The Michigan Municipal League Liability and Property Pool began operating in 1982, with four members and very little money. We believed then and still believe now, that if municipalities can assume more control of their unique loss exposures, we can help them break the disturbing cycle of volatile premiums and impersonal service provided by the commercial insurance market.

More than 24 years later, we have a track record of success. More than $35 million surplus (at 12-31-06) and a premium-to-surplus ratio of .46:1 is evidence of prudent administration.

But success is measured by more than the accumulation of cash. Just as significant is our history of prompt and fair claims settlements, innovative risk management products and personal service.
