Who is covered under the Pool?

Your city, village, township, county or organization is the Named Insured on your policy. But individuals also must be insured for liability resulting from their activities on behalf of the Named Insured. So the Pool's definition of Insured includes all elected officials, appointed administrators, full and part-time employees and authorized volunteers. Insurance is provided for these individuals while they are performing activities within the scope of their responsibilities on behalf of the Named Insured.

Many municipal activities are performed by committees that have officials, employees or authorized volunteers as members. Because the individuals that form these committees are insured for their liability, it is logical and correct to assume that the committee is also insured by the Pool. Committees must be authorized by the governing board of the Named Insured, and coverage is provided while the committee is performing the activities for which it is authorized.
